Dresden police investigate love scam involving rapper Sido identity

Police in Dresden are investigating a love scam in which fraudsters impersonated the German rapper Sido to defraud a 38-year-old woman. The victim believed she was in a romantic relationship with the artist for several months after being contacted via social media.

The perpetrators used the pretext of purchasing real estate together to solicit funds. The woman transferred a total of approximately 43,000 euros to various accounts. The scheme was discovered after the victim's bank stopped one of the payments, prompting her to inquire about the transaction and subsequently alerting the authorities.

While the bank's intervention prevented further loss, the fraudsters successfully embezzled approximately 20,000 euros. Investigators are currently working to identify the suspects, potentially using the victim's computer to trace IP addresses.
