Dresden residential fire results in one fatality
A residential building fire in the Dresden-Trachau district has resulted in the death of one man. Emergency services responded to the blaze on Cottbusser Straße, where the first floor of a building was already fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
First responders discovered the deceased male inside the structure. Another man was treated for suspected smoke inhalation and transported to a hospital. During the operation, firefighters also rescued two turtles from the building.
While the fire is largely under control, authorities are investigating whether the flames spread to an adjacent building under the roofline. Due to heavy smoke, residents within a 500-meter radius were advised via the NINA warning app to close windows and doors and turn off ventilation systems. Several local streets remain closed to traffic.
