Dresdner Eislöwen target DEL promotion with record budget

The Dresdner Eislöwen are entering the new DEL2 season with the explicit goal of winning the championship and securing promotion back to the DEL. Following their relegation, club management describes the objective as a “commitment” rather than pressure.

To support this ambition, the club has established a record budget for the second division, estimated between 7 and 7.5 million euros. This follows a 5.5 million euro budget during their previous championship season. Managing Director Maik Walsdorf noted that sponsorship support remains strong despite the relegation. The increased funding is intended for the professional roster, coaching staff, administrative personnel, and improved travel logistics to ensure competitiveness upon returning to the top tier.

The team has undergone significant roster changes, including the hiring of experienced Czech coach Bohuslav Subr and the addition of several new players, including Canadian forwards Dane Fox and Tylor Spink. The season is set to begin with a match against the Kassel Huskies.
