Drew Barrymore discusses career retirement during talk show interview

During an episode of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, actress and host Drew Barrymore became emotional while discussing the challenges of potentially retiring from her career. While interviewing guest John Cena, Barrymore expressed uncertainty regarding when or how to step away from public life, stating, “I don’t know how and when to retire, and I don’t necessarily want to retire yet.”

Barrymore sought insight from Cena, who retired from professional wrestling in December 2025. Cena explained that his decision was driven by a sense of doing what was right rather than ego, noting that he wanted to avoid continuing solely for personal gratification at the expense of others.

Barrymore has previously indicated that she has stepped back from acting to focus on raising her two daughters, Olive and Frankie, noting that the long hours required for film production conflicted with her desire to be present for her children.
