Drew Barrymore reveals original dramatic ending for ‘50 First Dates’
Actress Drew Barrymore revealed on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ that the film ‘50 First Dates’ was originally written as a ‘hardcore drama’ with a significantly different conclusion.
During a conversation with guest Brett Goldstein, Barrymore explained that the original script, titled ‘Fifty First Kisses’, featured an ending where the characters Lucy and Henry broke up. In that version, the two would have reconnected years later when Henry realized he could not live without her. Barrymore noted that the title was changed from ‘Kisses’ to ‘Dates’ to avoid being perceived as too ‘girly’ or potentially turning off male audiences.
