Dricus Du Plessis targets two-division UFC championship
UFC fighter Dricus Du Plessis has expressed ambitions to become a two-division champion, targeting a move to the light heavyweight division after reclaiming the middleweight title.
Following a recent victory over Kamaru Usman, Du Plessis discussed the physical toll of his current weight class. He revealed that he must cut approximately 45 pounds to meet the middleweight limit, a process he described as “ridiculous” and “crazy,” though he noted his team has mastered the science of the cut.
While his immediate priority is to regain the middleweight championship, Du Plessis stated his intention to eventually move up to the 205-pound division. He expressed confidence in his ability to succeed at the higher weight, stating, “I’m big enough for that division, and I’m certain I can be champion in that division as well.”
