Italy: Driver arrested for intentionally hitting cyclists near Turin
A 73-year-old driver, identified as Giuseppe Campagna, has been arrested following an intentional collision with a group of six amateur cyclists near Turin, Italy. The incident occurred on a popular route between Lanzo Torinese and Coassolo.
According to investigators, the confrontation began when the driver became angry that the cyclists were occupying too much space on the road. After a verbal dispute involving honking and hand gestures, the driver stopped his vehicle, engaged reverse gear, and struck four of the cyclists. Reports indicate he then turned around and hit the group a second time.
Four cyclists sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures. Two victims were airlifted by helicopter to the CTO hospital in Turin, with one individual reported to be in critical condition.
