Driver charged in fatal Mendoza traffic accident
Héctor Octavio Barroso Gallegos, 21, has been charged following a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of Colón and Perú streets in Mendoza. The Transit Prosecutor's Office, led by prosecutor Mariana Gutiérrez, charged the young man with “aggravated manslaughter, aggravated serious culpable injuries, and minor culpable injuries, all in ideal concurrence.”
The collision occurred on a Wednesday night involving a Fiat Cronos, operating as a ride-sharing vehicle, and a Citroën C4. The impact resulted in the immediate death of 22-year-old Luciana Báez. Several other individuals sustained injuries, including the victim's boyfriend, who was hospitalized with multiple trauma, and the driver of the Fiat Cronos.
Preliminary investigations, supported by footage from the Strategic Operations Center (CEO), indicate that the Citroën C4 crossed a red light before striking the Fiat Cronos.
