Driver ordered into provisional prison after fatal Cantabria crash
A judge has ordered provisional imprisonment for a 26-year-old driver involved in a fatal accident in Hinojedo, Cantabria. The incident occurred on the CA-132 highway early Thursday morning when the vehicle crashed into a wall and a traffic light.
The driver reportedly fled a Guardia Civil sobriety checkpoint, allegedly exceeding the legal alcohol limit by more than triple. Following the crash, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot before being apprehended near Polanco.
The accident resulted in the death of a 26-year-old passenger from Madrid. Of the other occupants in the vehicle, one person sustained serious injuries, two suffered minor injuries, and one was unhurt.
