Driver prosecuted after passenger dies in expressway accident

Phu Tho Provincial Police have officially prosecuted bus driver Vu Manh Dai for violating road traffic safety regulations. The charges follow a fatal incident on the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway.

On the night of June 5, Dai was operating a passenger vehicle when he attempted to pick up and drop off passengers at an unauthorized location on the expressway. According to investigators, Dai opened the vehicle door while the bus was still in motion and had not come to a complete stop. This action caused a 33-year-old passenger, identified as N. T. N. Q., to fall from the vehicle, resulting in her death.

Authorities have issued warnings to transport businesses and drivers to strictly adhere to safety protocols, emphasizing that passengers must only board or exit vehicles once they have come to a full stop at designated, safe locations. Passengers are also advised to refuse requests to disembark in unsafe areas, particularly on expressways.
