Driver sentenced to prison after hitting traffic worker in Norway
A man in his 60s from the Værnes region has been sentenced to unconditional prison following an incident in Stjørdal this past May. The driver was found guilty of violating both the Penal Code and the Road Traffic Act after driving toward traffic controllers performing manual direction during roadwork on Selbuvegen.
According to court documents, the driver acted aggressively toward a traffic guard and subsequently struck a second worker with his vehicle. Although the collision occurred at a low speed, the impact caused the worker to land on the car's hood, resulting in injuries to the victim's knee and elbow. A witness driving behind the vehicle reported seeing the incident occur.
The Trøndelag District Court ruled that the driver acted with intent. The court noted that using a vehicle as a weapon increases the potential for harm and emphasized that the assault took place while the victim was performing their professional duties.
