Driver warned that license disqualification applies interstate

Liam Patrick Trotter, 34, appeared before Judge Chisholm in Orange Local Court to face charges of mid-range PCA and refusing to submit to an oral fluid test. The incident occurred on May 30, 2026, in Orange, when police observed Trotter’s silver Mazda utility vehicle sliding during a turn on a wet night.

Following a roadside breath test that yielded a positive result, Trotter was arrested. Police reported that he repeatedly refused to comply with subsequent requests to undergo a roadside drug test. At the police station, he recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.130.

Trotter’s solicitor stated that he pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and had completed a Traffic Offenders Program. She argued that his refusal to take the drug test was due to ignorance of the law rather than an attempt to avoid detection. Trotter intends to relocate to Queensland, but has been warned that his driver's license disqualification remains valid interstate.
