Driver with gunshot wound crashes into three cars in Bennington, Vermont

On Saturday evening, a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek traveling north on Park Street in Bennington, Vermont, collided with three parked vehicles, sending one of them onto its roof. Police and rescue crews discovered that the 38‑year‑old driver had sustained a gunshot wound. He was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and later transferred to Albany Medical Center for treatment of life‑threatening injuries. Two other occupants of the Subaru were hospitalized with serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries, while a fourth occupant fled the scene before officers arrived.

Bennington Police identified and detained a person of interest linked to the incident. The Vermont State Police, along with local rescue teams from Pownal and Arlington, assisted in the response. Police emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the community and continued to seek information from the public.
