Driver's license exchange mobile unit to visit Bruchköbel

The mandatory EU-wide transition from old paper and card-based driver's licenses to a standardized digital format continues. This measure aims to prevent forgery and ensure uniformity across the European Union.

In the Main-Kinzig district, a mobile exchange unit will visit Bruchköbel on October 28 at the Stadthaus. This specific session targets holders of unlimited card licenses issued between 2002 and 2004, though owners of older or paper licenses may also attend. Those born before 1953 are currently exempt from the mandatory exchange until 2033.

Regarding driving privileges, the transition involves complex class mappings. For example, holders of the old Class 3 license can generally operate vehicles in classes B, BE, C1, C1E, AM, and L, depending on when the permit was originally issued and whether it was obtained in West or East Germany.
