Indonesia implements biometric SIM registration and regional budget shifts

Indonesia is implementing several regional and national administrative changes. In Jakarta, the odd-even traffic restriction system has resumed following the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday holiday.

Nationally, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has mandated that facial biometric verification is now the sole method for registering new prepaid SIM cards. The previous method using National Identity Numbers (NIK) and Family Card (KK) numbers has been permanently closed by Dukcapil to prevent data misuse.

In the Yogyakarta region, Bantul Regency is discussing a budget amendment that increases regional spending by Rp50 billion, leading to a projected deficit of Rp154 billion. Meanwhile, Sleman Regency is facing a budget reduction of Rp64.6 billion due to decreased central and provincial transfer funds, specifically noting a significant drop in Village Funds. Despite these shifts, Sleman has reported that Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2) collection has reached 95% of its target.
