Driving eligibility and care level 2 in Germany
In Germany, having a designated care level of 2 (Pflegegrad 2) does not automatically result in a driving ban. Under the Road Traffic Act (StVG), driving eligibility is determined by whether an individual meets the necessary physical and mental requirements and has not repeatedly violated traffic laws.
While a care level 2 indicates a significant impairment of independence, there is no specific law that prohibits individuals from driving based solely on their care status or age. However, the law emphasizes that drivers must maintain the required physical and mental capabilities to ensure road safety.
