Driving license regulations and renewal procedures updated

Various updates regarding driving license regulations and financial assistance are being implemented. In France, young people aged 16 to 25 can access several financing options to offset the cost of driver training. These include the ‘permis à 1 euro par jour’ zero-interest loan, regional subsidies, and the use of the Compte Personnel de Formation (CPF) for active workers.

Regarding heavy goods vehicle (HGV) licenses, drivers must follow specific administrative procedures through ANTS, including the use of CERFA form 14882 and mandatory medical examinations with approved physicians to ensure professional continuity.

On a broader scale, European Union reforms are modernizing driving licenses to harmonize standards and enhance road safety. This includes a transition to secure credit-card-sized formats. While traditional paper licenses remain legal until January 19, 2033, the new digital-format documents will require standard administrative renewal every 15 years.
