Driving safety concerns and driver's license scams on social media

Driving instructors and authorities are highlighting growing concerns regarding road safety and fraudulent activities involving driver's licenses.

Driving instructors report that stress, rushing, and aggression are major contributors to poor driving habits. Experts note that drivers often fail to allow sufficient time for travel, leading to risky maneuvers and aggressive behavior when faced with traffic or unexpected delays. The ability to adapt to changing road conditions is cited as a fundamental skill for safe driving.

Separately, a rise in fraudulent schemes on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok has been identified. Scammers are offering to provide driver's licenses without the required training, exams, or official procedures. The Lithuanian state agency Regitra has reported numerous cases where individuals attempted to verify fake licenses purchased online.

These scams typically involve fraudsters claiming to have direct contacts within official agencies. Victims are often asked to provide sensitive personal information, including photos of IDs, birth numbers, and selfies, alongside payments for various fees. Beyond financial loss, these schemes pose a significant risk of identity theft.
