Switzerland police report pursuit, burglaries, and arson updates

Several criminal incidents have been reported across Switzerland. In Schwyz, a 23-year-old driver fled a police checkpoint in Oberarth, leading to a high-speed pursuit through several regions before being stopped in Ried/Schwyz. His driver's license was confiscated, and he faces prosecution.

In St. Gallen, two French nationals, aged 21 and 22, were arrested following a tip from a bus driver. They are suspected of breaking into a garage in the St. Dionys industrial area and a second garage on Buechstrasse. While they failed to steal any vehicles, they caused property damage.

In Aargau, the prosecution has concluded its investigation into a series of arsons that occurred in August 2025 in Uezwil, Wohlen, and Büttikon. A 31-year-old Swiss man, deemed not criminally responsible due to a paranoid-hallucinatory disorder and a psychotic episode, is being recommended for outpatient measures by the Bremgarten District Court to manage his risk of relapse.
