Drniš hosts 9th International Prosciutto Festival

The 9th International Prosciutto Festival has officially opened in Drniš, Croatia. The event brings together numerous producers, exhibitors, and officials to celebrate one of the region's most recognizable culinary symbols.

The festival features an educational program consisting of professional panels focused on local and regional policies for indigenous products, funding for domestic production, and the balance between traditional production methods and safety regulations. A competition in slicing prosciutto, aimed at producing the thinnest and longest slices, was also held.

Drago Pletikosa, president of the Drniš Prosciutto Producers Association, noted the event facilitates the exchange of knowledge between participants from Croatia, Istria, Italy, and Austria. He also highlighted the challenges facing producers, including global warming and regulatory inspections, while emphasizing a commitment to maintaining classic, non-artificial production methods.
