Drobeta Turnu Severin factory fire destroys 4,000-square-meter hall

A massive fire broke out at a cardboard and cellulose factory in Drobeta Turnu Severin, destroying a 4,000-square-meter hall. The blaze, which began on a Monday afternoon, required significant reinforcements from neighboring counties, including Gorj, as well as military firefighters from Bucharest.

While the main fire was localized late Monday night, crews continued working through the following day to extinguish remaining hotspots within the hall and surrounding debris. The intensity of the fire was exacerbated by strong winds, which spread flames in multiple directions. The incident also affected a nearby service station, destroying several vehicles and a house, and posed a threat to surrounding structures.
