Drogaria Maxi Popular ordered to improve elderly parking in Belém
A court ruling in Belém has ordered the pharmacy chain Drogaria Maxi Popular to adapt its parking facilities to comply with accessibility standards for elderly citizens. The decision follows a public civil action initiated by the Public Ministry of the State of Pará (MPPA) after inspections identified irregularities in several neighborhoods, including Nazaré, Batista Campos, Jurunas, Marambaia, and Parque Verde.
Technical inspections revealed a lack of exclusive parking spaces for the elderly, as well as issues with signage and the location of reserved spots. The court mandate requires the company to designate 10% of its parking spaces to elderly individuals, ensuring they are properly signaled and located in areas that offer better access and convenience.
Failure to comply with the ruling will result in a daily fine of R$ 1,000, capped initially at R$ 30,000. The company has also been ordered to cover legal costs and procedural expenses.
