Dromoland Castle announces major six-month renovation

Dromoland Castle in County Clare, Ireland, has announced its largest redevelopment in its 63-year history as a hotel. The 16th-century property will close this November for a six-month renovation, with a scheduled reopening in June 2027.

The project will expand the estate's capacity from 96 to 121 accommodations. Key additions include the Walled Garden Collection, consisting of 13 accommodations in converted former stables, and The Heritage Collection, which adds 16 guestrooms and five suites. The renovation also features a new 3,200-square-foot glass-enclosed atrium to serve as a year-round gathering space.

Wellness and dining will see significant updates. Planned amenities include glass-fronted saunas on the shores of Lough Dromoland and new wellness rituals. Under Executive Head Chef Kevin Fleming, the dining experience will be enhanced with the return of classic tableside service at The Earl of Thomond and the introduction of a new Grill Room.
