Drone-delivered hashish seized at Naples prisons
Italian prison police intercepted sophisticated drones that attempted to drop hashish into two detention facilities in Naples. At the Secondigliano prison, officers seized 600 g of hashish from the cell where the drone landed and later recovered an additional 400 g in a separate cell. A similar operation occurred at the Poggioreale prison, where 600 g of hashish was also confiscated and another 400 g was found elsewhere in the facility.
Union representatives praised the prison police for their professionalism and called for urgent deployment of anti‑drone technologies such as jammers and signal‑inhibitors to counter the growing use of drones by criminal groups for smuggling drugs and contraband into prisons.
