Drone photography captures news helicopter crash in Los Angeles

Freelance photographer Ethan Swope utilized drone technology to capture a comprehensive overhead view of a news helicopter crash site near Chatsworth, Los Angeles.

Swope, who has worked with the Associated Press since 2019, noted that the police perimeter prevented ground-level photographers from capturing the full extent of the scene. By using a drone the following morning, he was able to document the charred remains of the helicopter and surrounding vehicles. The resulting top-down composition included remnants of the NBC logo to provide visual context regarding the parties involved in the accident.
