Drone show in New Jersey honors Spain's 2026 World Cup win

Hundreds of synchronized drones illuminated the sky over Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey, creating World Cup symbols such as the trophy, footballs and the tournament logo against the Manhattan skyline. The display was staged ahead of the final match in which Spain defeated Argentina 1‑0 to claim its second World Cup title, and was promoted by the tournament organizers as a sustainable alternative to traditional fireworks.

The spectacular show attracted thousands of local fans, tourists and families, who shared the event widely on social media. In New York City, Times Square was also lit in red and featured a towering El Corte Inglés neon message congratulating the Spanish champions. The 2026 World Cup, co‑hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, marked the first 48‑team edition of the tournament.
