Drones transition from experimental tools to essential assets in agriculture and emergency response

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are transitioning from experimental tools to essential operational assets across various sectors, including agriculture and emergency management.

In Argentina, the International Drone Congress will be held in Tucumán from September 23 to 25. Organized by INTA and the Sociedad Rural de Tucumán, the event focuses on drones as a productive ecosystem integrating AI, sensors, and data analysis. Estimates suggest approximately 10,000 drones are currently in circulation in the country for uses ranging from agriculture to audiovisual production.

In the field of public safety and emergency response, drones have become vital for real-time information during disasters such as fires, floods, or earthquakes. Representatives from the Spanish National Police, Civil Guard, and the Military Emergencies Unit (UME) noted that drones facilitate rapid searches in complex environments, such as locating missing persons in inaccessible areas. However, experts highlighted that slow regulatory frameworks remain a significant obstacle to the full development and deployment of these technologies.
