DroneShield launches European production as US warns of drone terror threat

Australia-based DroneShield announced that its first counter‑UAS systems have rolled off a new manufacturing line in Europe, marking the company’s initial production outside Australia. The facility, located in an undisclosed European site, will supply the same performance as its Australian‑built units and is part of DroneShield’s strategy to support Western European sovereign capability and reduce reliance on extended supply chains. The launch coincided with the Eurosatory 2026 defense exhibition and follows the opening of DroneShield’s European headquarters in Amsterdam.

Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino warned that drones are becoming a critical domestic security threat in the United States. His remarks came after the FBI disclosed a foiled plot to use explosive drones against the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House. Bongino emphasized that traditional ground‑based defenses are ineffective against airborne threats and called for security agencies to adapt their counter‑drone measures.

Both developments highlight growing concerns over drone technology, with industry expanding production capacity in Europe while security officials in the US stress the need for new defensive strategies.
