Dropbox launches AI integration plugin for OpenAI ChatGPT tools
Dropbox announced new capabilities that embed its file‑storage platform directly into OpenAI products, including ChatGPT Work, ChatGPT and ChatGPT Codex. Through an official Dropbox‑created skill, users can organize files and folders, create shareable links, generate file requests and run multi‑step workflows without leaving the AI interface. The company says usage of its AI integrations grew more than 200% in the past month, reflecting a demand for trusted content within AI conversations.
"AI is most useful when it has the right context," said Vibhor Chhabra, Product Lead for the ChatGPT Ecosystem at OpenAI. By leveraging the Dropbox plugin, organizations can keep AI‑generated work grounded in content that already respects existing permissions, governance and administrative controls. The announcement cites examples such as a product‑marketing team quickly assembling launch assets and a construction firm pulling up specifications and project histories, all while maintaining secure, shareable output stored back in Dropbox.
