Dürr to equip Volvo Cars’ first dedicated EV plant in Slovakia

Dürr is providing highly automated final assembly solutions for Volvo Cars’ first dedicated all-electric vehicle plant. Located in Košice, Slovakia, the new facility is designed to have a maximum capacity of 250,000 vehicles per year, with production scheduled to begin in 2027.

Through its NEXT. assembly concept, Dürr is delivering turnkey planning and implementation for various technologies, including conveyor, filling, and testing systems. The integration aims to increase production efficiency and precision while reducing coordination efforts for Volvo Cars.

The filling technology is designed to be future-proof, capable of integrating new low-conductivity coolants and next-generation air conditioning refrigerants to comply with upcoming European legislation. This project supports Volvo Cars' broader strategic goal to fully electrify its entire vehicle lineup and expand its global production capacity.
