Drug trafficking networks face crackdown in Bahrain and Lebanon
Authorities in Bahrain have apprehended an Asian national for attempting to smuggle 22 drug capsules inside his body. Following a secret investigation, security forces intercepted the suspect upon his arrival at the airport. The individual admitted to hiding the capsules in his abdomen to deliver them to unknown parties for profit. The court has scheduled a hearing for September 29.
In a separate but related development regarding organized drug networks, investigations in Lebanon have dismantled a large-scale trafficking ring with local and international connections. Under the supervision of Mount Lebanon Prosecutor Sami Sader, raids and arrests have targeted high-profile figures linked to the network.
Following these operations, judicial officials and investigating officers have reportedly received a series of threats from unidentified foreign phone numbers. Authorities are currently investigating whether these communications are an attempt by the criminal network to pressure the judiciary and influence the ongoing investigation.
