Drunk driver crashes and overturns Ford in Bergtheim, Germany

A 29‑year‑old driver with Spanish and Peruvian citizenship was travelling from Bergtheim toward Dipbach on Sunday at about 15:25 when his Ford left the road, overturned and came to rest on the carriageway. A breath test showed a blood‑alcohol level of 2.6 ‰.

The driver suffered only minor injuries and was taken to hospital; his 39‑year‑old passenger was unharmed. Fire‑brigade crews rescued the occupants and later towed the total‑loss vehicle, with damage estimated at roughly €30,000. Police have opened a criminal proceeding for driving under the influence, and the driver will face court.
