Druskininkai bus station helium balloon begins ascent

A massive helium balloon has begun its ascent at the site of the newly constructed Druskininkai bus station in Lithuania. The inflation process took approximately four hours.

Designed by architect Gintaras Balčytis, the station features wooden structures inspired by the surrounding trees and adheres to modern sustainability criteria. The project aims to integrate architecture, nature, and technology into a multifunctional object.

A unique feature of the station is the helium balloon, which will allow visitors to ascend to an altitude of approximately 200 meters to view a panorama of Druskininkai and its surroundings. Ričardas Malinauskas, a former mayor and current senior advisor to the municipality, noted that the project fulfills a vision established nearly a decade ago. The official opening of the station is scheduled for October.
