Druskininkai education leaders discuss school management and student well-being

Education leaders in Druskininkai recently held a conference focused on the evolving role of school management and the identity of modern schools. The theme, ‘From Agreement to Change: The Leader’s Role in Creating a School’, emphasized that change involves recognizing ineffective practices rather than simply dismantling existing structures.

During the event, school leadership teams discussed ongoing challenges and committed to specific improvements for the 2026–2027 academic year. Sandra Valantiejienė, director of the Lithuanian Center for Inclusive Education, presented on how meaningful changes can truly impact student experiences through consistent community action.

Parallel discussions regarding the academic year highlight concerns over student workload. Recent administrative shifts mean that maximum learning hours will now be determined by general education plans from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, rather than hygiene norms from the Ministry of Health. Experts emphasize the need to distinguish between healthy academic challenges and excessive pressure, noting that student well-being depends on balancing schoolwork with sleep, physical activity, and social life.
