Druskininkai youth employment program involves 64 employers

The Druskininkai Municipality’s Youth Employment and Labor Market Integration Program has completed its tenth year, involving 64 employers this summer. The initiative provides teenagers aged 14 to 19 the opportunity to gain professional experience in various sectors, including hospitality, accommodation, healthcare, education, and services.

Vilma Jurgelevičienė, director of the Druskininkai Municipality administration, noted that the program aims to create a functional system that helps youth take their first steps in the labor market while encouraging employers to open doors to younger workers. Beyond earning a salary, participants develop essential skills such as responsibility, independence, communication, and teamwork. For some, the experience serves as a guide for future career decisions.

Local institutions, such as the ‘Žibutė’ nursery-kindergarten, participated by employing youth to assist with childcare, special education support, and facility maintenance.
