Drvar hosts sixth international paragliding competition

The sixth international paragliding competition, ‘Desant na Drvar’, has commenced in Drvar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Running until August 29, the event features 80 pilots representing 24 different countries.

This year’s competition serves as a PrePWC, a test event following the Paragliding World Cup format. Organizers are using the event to demonstrate the region's capacity to host a future World Cup. The competition is officially recognized by the International Aeronautical Federation (FAI) as a Category 2 international event.

Pilots will fly routes ranging from 60 to 150 kilometers, with their progress monitored via satellite equipment for real-time tracking. The primary take-off site is the Kruškovac airfield near the Podovi settlement. Official competitive flights began on Monday, following an initial briefing regarding terrain and safety procedures.
