Drvenik residents demand direct ferry line to Split

Residents of the island of Drvenik are calling for the reintroduction of a direct ferry or catamaran line to Split due to frequent technical failures of the current ferry service connecting the island to Trogir. Lovorka Kostović Čilić, president of the Drvenik Veliki Local Committee, stated that the aging ferry often breaks down, causing delays that affect residents' work commitments in Split and Trogir, as well as tourists attempting to reach flights at Split Airport.

Kostović Čilić has formally contacted the Mayor of Trogir, Jadrolinija, and the county regarding the issue. She proposed reinstating a passenger catamaran service that operated approximately 15 years ago, specifically suggesting Friday departures to the island and Sunday returns to Split. A meeting involving Jadrolinija, county officials, the Mayor of Trogir, and local committee representatives is scheduled for September to discuss improved connectivity.

In response, Jadrolinija reported that 99.66 percent of planned trips on the Drvenik line were completed between the start of the year and August 25. The company noted that the ferry Šoltanka operates the line, and per public service contracts, replacement vessels such as Pelješčanka or Lošinjanka are deployed within 12 hours in the event of technical difficulties or repairs.
