DS Penske excels in rainy Shanghai Formula E event
DS Penske drivers Maximilian Günther and Taylor Barnard performed strongly during the rain‑affected Formula E weekend in Shanghai. In the third free‑practice session the duo occupied the top‑10, with Günther first and Barnard seventh. During qualifying both started in the first group; Barnard recorded the second‑fastest time while Günther was sixth, securing places in the knockout stages.
In the quarter‑finals Barnard beat Pepe Marti, then defeated Norman Nato in the semi‑finals to reach the final against Felipe Drugovich. A minor error cost Barnard the pole position, leaving him to start from second on the grid. The race was run on a wet track with intermittent rain, requiring teams to use fans and ice to cool the cars and pilots. Drivers had two eight‑minute attack modes, simplifying energy management under the changing conditions. The strong performance earned DS Penske valuable championship points.
