Cadillac's debut F1 season hit by double retirement at Hungarian Grand Prix

Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas both retired from the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix after suffering separate mechanical failures in Cadillac’s MAC‑26 cars – a suspension break for Pérez on lap 51 and a front‑right brake fire for Bottas on lap 8. The double DNF deepened the reliability crisis that has hampered Cadillac’s first Formula 1 season.

Team principal Graeme Lowdon acknowledged the setbacks, saying the new team expects challenges and will use the forthcoming summer break to work across all areas and return stronger for the second half of the year. Pérez described the race as “demanding”, noting balance issues in the first stint that he managed to improve in the second, while both drivers expressed frustration over the recurring problems.
