DSA co-chair Megan Romer discusses one-state solution
Megan Romer, national co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has drawn scrutiny following an interview with New Yorker editor David Remnick regarding the organization’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
When asked if the DSA supports a two-state or a single binational state, Romer stated, “Our position is a free Palestine with the capital in Jerusalem,” noting that this position could “safely” be interpreted as a one-state solution. The DSA’s platform includes calls for Palestinian self-determination, a right of return for Palestinians, and an end to all United States military and economic aid to Israel.
During the interview, Romer also faced questioning regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel, describing the events as “largely inevitable.” Additionally, she addressed a pro-Hamas demonstration held in New York one day after the initial attack.
