Désiré Doué faces reduced playing time at PSG

Désiré Doué is experiencing a decline in playing time and influence at Paris Saint-Germain. Following a successful period that included decisive performances in the Champions League, the 21-year-old has struggled to maintain his starting status. This shift in the squad hierarchy is partly attributed to the strong form of Ferran Torres, whose versatility and clinical play have provided manager Luis Enrique with different tactical options.

While Doué’s recent performances have drawn criticism, his representatives state that the dip in efficiency is not due to physical or mental issues, but rather a matter of current form. This development may impact upcoming contract extension negotiations with the club.

Former French international Samuel Umtiti has publicly defended the young attacker, urging patience from critics. Umtiti suggested that the perceived drop in performance could be a result of the heavy physical and mental load following an exceptionally long competitive season involving the Champions League, the Club World Cup, and the North American World Cup.
