DSLWEB Speedtest Lets German Users Verify Their Internet Speeds

DSLWEB offers a free, browser‑based speed test that lets consumers in Germany measure the actual download, upload and latency of their broadband connections. The test works without registration or an app and is designed to be provider‑independent, allowing users of major operators such as Telekom, Vodafone, o2 and 1&1, as well as regional providers like M‑net and NetCologne, to obtain an objective result.

Oliver Feil, editor at DSLWEB, notes that differences between advertised “up to” speeds and real‑world performance are common, especially for DSL and cable, due to factors such as distance to the distribution box, house wiring and network load. Over 7.2 million measurements have been collected nationwide, forming a broad data base for evaluating results. DSLWEB recommends conducting the test via a LAN cable for stability, though it also provides guidance for WLAN testing.
