dsm-firmenich updates Digital SalmoFan™ for trout color measurement

dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health has released an update to its Digital SalmoFan™ software, introducing a new algorithm specifically designed to measure trout fillet color. The portable, user-friendly device uses a numeric scoring system to provide consistent color measurements for both salmon and trout species, regardless of light interference.

The update aims to bring globally recognized color metrics into the digital era, allowing for more efficient data gathering, storage, and sharing across the aquaculture value chain. The technology is intended for use by feed producers, farmers, processors, and research institutions to optimize performance and maximize the value of color in their products.

Several industry entities, including Skretting Group, MOWI UK, and Nord University, have already integrated the Digital SalmoFan™ into their research and development or quality initiatives.
