dSPACE enhances Aurelion platform with driver monitoring simulation

German software company dSPACE has enhanced its Aurelion platform with a new driver monitoring system (DMS) simulation solution. The update is designed to meet increasing safety requirements from Euro NCAP and the EU General Safety Regulation.

The solution utilizes animated 3D driver models combined with physics-based infrared (IR) camera simulation. This allows developers to test DMS applications—such as gaze direction, attention, and fatigue detection—under controlled, reproducible, and variable environmental conditions. By simulating realistic sensor data, the platform enables early and automated validation of algorithms without the need for physical test subjects.

Aurelion Driver Monitoring integrates into the existing dSPACE toolchain, supporting end-to-end workflows from scenario creation to ECU validation in both Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments.
