dSPACE launches MCP-enabled AI workflows for automotive engineering
dSPACE has introduced AI‑driven engineering workflows built on the open Model Context Protocol (MCP). The new approach lets AI agents interact directly with dSPACE’s automotive development tools—including VEOS, ConfigurationDesk, SystemDesk, Bus Manager, ControlDesk and real‑time hardware—through standardized interfaces. By automating handoffs between requirements, specifications, simulations, implementations and tests, the system aims to keep engineers in control while improving traceability and reducing manual effort.
The company highlighted that “AI delivers the greatest value when it can actively support engineering workflows rather than operate outside them,” said Jann‑Eve Staves, director of product portfolio management at dSPACE. In parallel, developers are increasingly adopting a stateless version of MCP, where each request carries all necessary context, eliminating hidden sessions and scaling more efficiently. This shift mirrors broader trends in AI integration, offering a more lightweight and server‑friendly way to connect AI agents to external tools and data sources.
