Düsseldorf Airport launches free visitor‑terrace tickets and cautions against parking‑service fraud
Düsseldorf Airport will open its visitor terrace, located at the airport railway station, for four days in August. From 22–23 and 29–30 August, the venue will welcome up to 500 guests per time slot, offering three daily windows (10:00‑12:00, 12:15‑14:15, 14:30‑16:30) and a special sunrise opening on 22 August from 05:45‑09:30. A total of 6,500 free tickets will be distributed. Visitors can watch take‑offs and landings, enjoy snack kiosks, a children’s play area, a mini‑airfield and a prize‑wheel, while security checks will be performed at the entrance.
Police in the neighbouring Mettmann district warned travelers that some airport parking‑and‑fly services operate fraudulently. While most providers are legitimate, a minority have misused parked vehicles, inflating mileage, causing damage or, in rare cases, disappearing with the cars entirely. Authorities advise users to verify providers and monitor vehicle trackers where possible.
