Düsseldorf Airport seeks capacity expansion and new Sharjah route
Düsseldorf Airport is undergoing operational changes and expanding its international network. The airport has submitted a revised application to the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Environment, Nature, and Transport to increase its capacity. The proposal includes adding eight new aircraft parking positions and expanding operational areas. In terms of network expansion, Air Arabia has announced the launch of daily non-stop flights between Sharjah and Düsseldorf, scheduled to begin on December 16, 2026. This marks the airline's third German destination, joining Frankfurt and Munich. The route will be operated using Airbus A320neo aircraft, providing travelers from Germany and the Netherlands with direct access to the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.
