Düsseldorf CSD parade attracts thousands, stays peaceful

On June 6, 2026 the Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebration took place in Düsseldorf under the slogan “We stay colourful and loud”. Police estimated about 6,000 participants, with organisers expecting up to 7,500 people to march along a specially long route through the city centre.

The demonstration remained peaceful, with slogans such as “For more love in the world” and “CSD instead of AfD” on placards. Allies of the queer community joined the march, and a participant in priestly garb called for a “more colourful church”.

The large crowd caused significant traffic congestion in the downtown area, though drivers were reported to be understanding. Around the parade, a multi‑day street festival with parties and actions was organised, drawing additional thousands of visitors.

CSD is an annual global event that commemorates the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and non‑binary people.
