DSVSA Hunedoara launches food safety inspections in schools and catering firms
The Hunedoara Sanitary-Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA) has launched inspections targeting educational institutions, including schools, kindergartens, and nurseries. The checks also extend to catering companies providing food services to these facilities.
Inspectors are verifying compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards in areas where food is prepared and served to children. The scope of the inspections includes reviewing food blocks within schools, as well as the legal requirements for the preparation, storage, and transport of food by catering operators.
Key areas of focus include facility construction and equipment, hygiene and maintenance of processing and storage spaces, and the use of protective gear. Authorities are also examining the list of approved food suppliers, the storage conditions for raw materials and prepared meals—particularly those requiring specific temperatures—and the cleanliness of food handling areas. Additionally, inspectors will assess the health and hygiene of food handling personnel, pest control programs, and the proper disposal of waste to prevent contamination.
