DTU Aqua expands marine research and education initiatives in Denmark
DTU Aqua and Ungdomsøen have partnered to develop a new marine observatory located at the historic Middelgrundsfort in Copenhagen. The project, which began in August 2026, is expected to open in the spring of 2027 and is scheduled to run through December 2029. Supported by Seabreak and the Aage V. Jensen Naturfond, the observatory aims to provide children, students, and volunteers with a practical space to study marine life, animals, and ecosystems in the Øresund.
In Hirtshals, the DTU Hirtshals Campus at Nordsøen Forskerpark has welcomed five new international and domestic students to its sustainable fisheries and aquaculture programs. The curriculum emphasizes a combination of theoretical study and practical field research, allowing students to work closely with local companies to develop solutions for the marine environment and the fishing industry.
